Best Outdoor Pickleball Courts In Raleigh, NC

Raleigh has a very nice selection of outdoor courts, most of which have a one-time fee policy but you will find some public courts that are located in neighborhood community centers where you can enjoy pickleball for free! 

With some luck, you might even be able to play pickleball on grass!

1. Worthdale Community Center

Worthdale Community Center is located in the Sherwood Forest area in the southeast area of Raleigh. It is the oldest community center in Raleigh but that doesn’t mean that the amenities are in bad shape. 

On the contrary, this community center is a modern sports haven welcoming sports aficionados of all ages. 

Here you can find 6 tennis courts, a basketball court, a gymnasium for indoor soccer, basketball, and other indoor sports, softball and baseball fields, a weight room with all the machines and weights you will need to stay in shape.

The pickleball courts are divided into 6 outdoor and 3 indoor courts. These courts have permanent lines but you will have to provide nets. The surface of the courts is acrylic. 

Be aware that reservations are not available, but with 9 courts I’m sure that you will always have a court waiting for you and your friends to play. 

All this is available for a small one-time fee.

2. North Hills Park

North Hills Park is located in the North Hills area, close to Crabtree Creek in downtown Raleigh. This is a small park with amenities such as a picnic area and shelter, 2 playgrounds, a baseball field, tennis, and pickleball courts.

In this location, you will find 6 amazing dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. The pickleball community often gathers here so if you want to connect with like-minded pickleball players come around and meet the welcoming Raleigh community.

The best of all is that these courts, and all other amenities for a matter of fact, are free! This is a public park run by the local Raleigh government, which is how this is possible.

3. Method Community Center

Method Community Center is located in the Method area, downtown Raleigh. This center offers several indoor amenities. 

Among them are gymnasiums for indoor pickleball, volleyball, and basketball games, a fitness room, and several conference rooms.

From outdoor amenities, they offer pickleball and basketball courts, as well as softball and soccer fields.

The center offers 9 pickleball courts, of which 3 are indoor courts with permanent lines and portable nets provided and 6 outdoor professional dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets. 

No need to worry about playing pickleball on a tennis court with this community center!

All these amenities are available for a small one-time fee.

4. Wildwood Green Golf Club

Wildwood Green Golf Club is located in Wildwood Green, in the northern part of Raleigh. Even though it is primarily a golf club it offers a few other amenities like a pool, tennis, and pickleball courts. 

This is a luxury club so you know that membership is required to play here but it is worth it because here you will find fun recreation for the whole family!

Here you can experience 3 pickleball courts, of which 2 are dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets, and one court has permanent lines laid out on the tennis court.

Despite various differences between a tennis court and a pickleball court, Wildwood Green Golf Club makes it easy to play one on another.

On this court, the net is slightly higher since it is meant for tennis matches, but this won’t be a problem for novice players.

5. Swing Racquet + Paddle

Swing Racquet + Paddle is located in the Leesville Forest close to Raleigh Durham International Airport in the northwest part of the city. This is a new specialized sports center with a devotion to racquet sports.

Tennis, padel, table tennis, and most important of all - pickleball. This center has it all! Here you can experience mind-boggling 25 pickleball courts. These are dedicated courts with permanent nets and lines with hard surfaces. 

From other amenities, you can expect a restaurant for you to grab a bite between pickleball games, trainers, and couches that are more than willing to teach you the ways of pickleball and get your game on another level.

Also, the center will host a professional sports store with all the equipment you can possibly need for the game, so don’t worry if you forget your paddles because you can find everything in the center.

Laurel Hills Community Center is located in the Cephalonia Gardens area of Raleigh. Here you can find 6 pickleball courts with permanent lines and portable nets provided. The surface of the courts is wood.
