Best Outdoor Pickleball Courts In Fort Collins

Even though Colorado is famous for its winter sports, with the whole population being in love with them, many people like to play pickleball over spring and summer too. 

Not to mention there is a certain pleasure in playing pickleball on grass, something possible on outdoor courts only!

The Parks and Recreation department in Fort Collins made sure to bring those casual players and us pickleball lunatics plenty of free courts in local parks. Let’s check them out, shall we?

1. Spring Canyon Park

Spring Canyon Park is located in the Pineridge Natural Area, on the western side of Fort Collins. This park boasts picnic shelters, ball fields and dugouts, walking paths, playground equipment, basketball and tennis courts, a dog park, and an open turf area.

But what is most important for us are pickleball courts. So what kind of courts does this park have? 

Well, there are 12 pickleball courts with permanent lines overlaid over 3 tennis courts, but there are no nets so don’t forget to bring your own.

Oh and yes you can reserve the courts!

2. Osborn Park

Osborn Park is located in Loveland County, in the southern area of Fort Collins. This park has 2 soccer fields, a baseball diamond pitch, and an outdoor pool center that works seasonally. 

Pickleball courts that are located here are of the highest maintenance since the park is often used by the nearby Winona Elementary School. There are 6 dedicated pickleball courts with permanent nets and lines. 

The courts are free but you cannot reserve the courts since the open play principle is practiced on these courts.

3. Main Park

Main Park is located in Windsor County, in the eastern area of Fort Collins. 

Here you can experience several amenities such as basketball and volleyball courts. There are also locations for grilling with adequate tables, as well as a water fountain for when you get thirsty.

Most importantly, here you can find 8 dedicated well-maintained pickleball courts with permanent nets and lines. The courts have been resurfaced and upgraded recently so you can enjoy brand new courts with your friends and family.

4. Troutman Park

Troutman Park is located in the Willow Park neighborhood, in the lower downtown area of Fort Collins. 

In this park, many of the youth sports clubs such as Troutman Youth Athletic Association soccer, flag football, baseball, softball, and t-ball teams practice and play games on the park’s fields.

You would think that a park of this size wouldn’t have that many amenities but you are wrong. Check out everything you can enjoy here:

  • A playground - also inclusive of preschool playset and adult elliptical machines,
  • A splash pad,
  • A 1/4 mile walking track - around the perimeter of the soccer field,
  • A fitness trail - wooded paved trail 1/4 mile in length,
  • Multi-use & soccer fields - 2 fields, soccer goals,
  • Softball/Baseball fields - 2 fields, 300 ft fence line,
  • A pavilion - 10 picnic tables, ceiling fans, charcoal grill,
  • A dog park - large dog & small dog side,
  • Sand volleyball courts - newly renovated, 2 courts.

Well, there are several community and dedicated pickleball clubs and centers that operate in Fort Collins. I picked 2 of the best spots to get your game on. Bring your paddle and let’s see what is happening on these courts!

1. NORCO

NORCO is located in Centerra County, by the Boyd Lake on the south side of Fort Collins. What can I say about this spot? 30,000 sq ft, 10  Taraflex courts, a concession stand, a beer and wine bar, elevated viewing area are all there just for you to get your game on.

This is primarily a volleyball training center but they were nice enough to offer their professional compound for us pickleball players too! 

You can enjoy 10 pickleball courts with permanent lines, but you will have to bring your own net to play. And don’t forget your favorite type of pickleball paddle!

NOCO Sports Center is located in Windsor County, in the southeast area of Fort Collins. This is an indoor sports center with many sports available to play, but we will stick to pickleball. 

Here you can play your favorite game on 12 courts with permanent lines, and portable nets available and provided by the facility. This is the only place where you can play pickleball on wooden surfaces, which will benefit all players who prefer this kind of court.

Besides that, you can also check out the snack bar in the center, for those breaks between games.
