Florida is the most popular state for pickleball. That fact is set in stone. But Tampa, FL is a really interesting place when it comes to pickleball culture. Unlike other cities in Florida, dominated by outside courts, Tampa offers many really well-maintained indoor courts.

A little too hot for you and your thick blood? Don’t worry, indoor pickleball courts are sprinkled around Tampa and offer a way to stay out of the humidity and play in a cool indoor court before spending the rest of your time sunbathing on the beach.

Best outdoor courts in Tampa

Outside courts in Tampa are plentiful and really well maintained that's for sure. Many of the centers have a really high number of courts so the dedication of the pickleball community to promote this sport in the city is really admirable.

1. HCC Tennis & Pickleball Center 

HCC Tennis & Pickleball Center is located just beside Tampa International Airport in Hillsborough Community College - Dale Mabry Campus. In this Center, you will experience 11 amazing professional pickleball courts.

These outdoor courts are dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. Reservation of the courts can be arranged but you will have to be a member to play pickleball here.

2. Rowlett Park

Rowlett Park is located by the Hillsborough River in the heart of Tampa in the Riverside area. This new Tampa park contains many amenities but the one that is the most important to us is, of course, pickleball courts. 

Eight free courts with permanent lines and nets are awaiting you and your friends to throw another game of pickleball.

This experience could have a high price, let's be honest but the government and pickleball community made these courts free of charge. So when are you coming?

3. J W Cate Recreation Center 

J W Cate Recreation Center is located in the Disston Heights area of Tampa Bay. This recreational center offers 8 dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. Six of the courts are located outside the recreational center building and two are indoor courts.

When it comes to other amenities they also offer their own tennis courts, volleyball courts, pool, basketball courts, and baseball pitches. Do you need any more reasons to come check it out? I don't think so.

East Lake Woodlands Country Club is located on the northeast side of Tampa. This country club offers mind boggling 12 dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets.

From other amenities you can expect a pool, golf course, restaurant where you can dine in, fitness, tennis courts as well as racquetball courts. Truly a luxurious experience for a low price of membership so come check it out I'm sure you will love it.

5. Julian B Lane Riverfront Park

Julian B Lane Riverfront Park is located on Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. The park features a wide variety of athletic facilities for use by the public. Some of these are basketball courts, and multipurpose sports fields for football, soccer, and lacrosse games.

What matters most to us is of course pickleball courts of which 6 pickleball courts. Two of these courts are permanent dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. The other four courts are temporary courts with lines overlaid over tennis courts and portable nets provided in the park facilities.

And of course, because this park is publicly owned, the courts are free of charge, just like everything else in the park.

6. Northlakes Sports Complex 

Northlakes Sports Complex is located by Lake Heather in the northern part of Tampa. This sports complex has so many amenities that you couldn't even read them out loud in one breath!

Baseball field, basketball court, lacrosse, picnic shelters, playground, racquetball courts, sand volleyball, soccer field, tennis courts, walking trails, etc. That is a long list, right? The most important of these that must be mentioned separately is our beloved pickleball courts.

Mind boggling 14 outdoor dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets are just waiting for you! These are professional courts that are very well taken care of and with that many, you can be sure that you'll always have a spot for yourself.

Cuscaden Park is located in the Ybor City Historic District in Tampa. You can't get more downtown than that. In this park, you'll find 6 outdoor dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets. 

Since it's in a downtown area this is relatively close to all residents of Tampa and it's a great choice for afternoon games. Of course, this park is free since it's city property.

Best Indoor Courts In Tampa

As we said in the introduction, Tampa is home to a great deal of indoor courts. For Florida really that isn't so common. 

Since for some of us the famous heat and humidity of Florida can really be too much these courts are just the right spot that we all need sometimes. 

So let's check them out together, shall we?

9. Tampa Bay Pickleball 

Tampa Bay Pickleball is located in the Oldsmar area, close to Mobbly Bay in Tampa. This is one of the more popular locations in Tampa with pickleball enthusiasts regularly flocking to this sports center. 

Six indoor professional, dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets with acrylic surfaces are offered in this center. And when it comes to other amenities, there is a restaurant for you to grab a bite between games. 

Also, trainers/coaches are there for you to give you advice, beginner classes, pickleball lessons of all skill levels, and open play sessions.

Northdale Park is located in the Greater Northdale area of Tampa. This park offers a wide range of activities – Basketball courts, picnic shelters, playgrounds, tennis courts, and best of all pickleball courts.

These 7 courts will make you fall in love again in pickleball with their 5 indoor courts and 2 outdoor courts. The lines on courts are permanent but you'll need to bring a net. 

If you forget your net or any of your gear as a matter of fact, don't worry because the equipment store in the park will have your back with professional gear at reasonable prices.

Oh and yes you can reserve courts and all of this is free of charge! Amazing!
