Best Outdoor Pickleball Courts

Since I wasn’t native to Colorado, I didn’t expect to see so many outdoor courts. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by how many centers sport professional courts there are, with conditions perfect for players of all skill levels. 

There are big sports centers with huge amounts of great courts on different surfaces and intimate spots that cater to your needs. Let’s check out the best of them!

1. Apex Simms Street Rec Center

Apex Simms Street Rec Center is definitely the most popular spot on this list. It’s located on the west side of Denver close to Standley Lake. 

Probably the reason for this popularity is that they offer an incredible 26 courts of which 2 are indoor courts and 24 are permanent dedicated outdoors courts. Besides the sheer number of courts, I was surprised that these courts were free!

2. Sheridan Recreation Center

Sheridan Recreation Center is located on the south side of Denver. They offer 6 courts with permanent lines of which 3 are outdoors and 3 are indoors. 

When you get tired and hungry don’t worry because you can have a snack in a restaurant included in the center.

3. Autrey Park

Autrey Park is located on the northwest side of Denver. It is truly a sports lover's haven. In the park, you can find an athletic field, football, baseball, and soccer pitch, tennis, basketball, and most important of all, 6 pickleball courts. 

These courts are professional dedicated courts with nets and lines and best of all, they are free!

Huston Lake Park is located in the heart of Denver. And just like that, it will welcome you with heart! Aside from all the activities provided in the park for you to discover, they offer 4 outdoor pickleball courts that are dedicated with permanent net and lines.

Crowfoot Valley Big Park is located on the southeast side of Denver. It is one of the more popular spots even though it may seem a little far from downtown Denver. 

It offers 6 permanent dedicated courts with permanent nets and best of all, it is free of charge!

7. Green Mountain Recreation Center

Green Mountain Recreation Center is located on the west side of Denver. 

It offers a pool, fitness, free outdoor fitness court, tennis courts, basketball, and 8 incredible pickleball courts. Of these 8 courts, 2 are indoors and 6 are outdoors courts with permanent lines but you will need to bring your own nets.

8. Eisenhower Recreation Center

Eisenhower Recreation Center is located in the south downtown area of Denver. There are 7 courts of which 3 are indoor wood courts and 4 are outdoor dedicated permanent courts with permanent nets. 

Be aware that inside pickleball courts are available just on weekdays. Since outdoor courts are so popular there is a special regime of playing with crews constantly rotating on the court's game after game. Because of this, courts cannot be reserved.

Best Indoor Pickleball Courts

It is well known that Denver can get very cold in the autumn and winter seasons. But who says pickleball stops in colder seasons? 

Many of these indoor courts are equipped with professional courts and often more amenities than outdoor courts we have seen in the list before.

Parker Racquet Club is located on the southeast side of Denver. They offer 5 hard surface pickleball courts that are overlaid out on tennis courts but have permanent lines and movable nets. 

Even though it is a little far from downtown it is one of the more popular sites to play. Maybe it is because you have an integrated restaurant and it is wheelchair accessible.

They offer 9 permanent dedicated courts with nets and everything you need. Locker rooms, a restaurant, an equipment store, private trainers, and public lessons. The center even has wheelchair accessibility. You can reserve courts but membership is required to play.

Wulf Recreation Center is located in the county of Evergreen, on the west side outside of Denver. It’s one of those centers that offer a wide range of activities. 

This includes an indoor lap pool, full gym & dance studio along with outdoor tennis, volleyball, and a skate park. But the main activity for us is pickleball courts, of which there are 4 indoor courts with movable nets.
